Search-driven merchandising takes the users search as an input to drive the collective intelligence on the site. Examples might include artificially boosting the search results based upon what has been searched for (e.g. search for “digital camera” might artificially boost a particular brand of camera to the top of the search results list).
Another example might be to dynamically change the search results page template based on what the user has searched for (e.g. use a different page template for Books vs. DVDs).
Use metric merchandising to show top sellers for the entire site or just for a particular category. Alternatively, you could display recommendations based on release date, margin, availability, popularity etc.
ESP supports visual merchandising and promotional campaigns, either as zones within the page or as a entire page template. visual merchandising can be triggered by a search term, the page that the user is visiting, or category terms.
